Surf Club Miami

Sabana Windows and Doors was contracted to manufacture and install the French traditional Doors, casement windows, and interior doors for the Surf Club Miami Beach.

The quest to duplicate the existing 1920’s Doors and Windows brought a Synergie between the Builders, Architects, the Historic board, and Sabana professional design team.

The task was completed in the year 2016 and created a celebration of excellence in fine carpentry.

The doors were manufactured utilizing select grade genuine Honduras Mahogany 2 1/2″ thick. Fitted with 1/2″ impact laminated glass and finished with Sikkens.

Sabana’s capable and professional crews installed the doors.

Multi bolt security systems and hidden 2 point locking systems are engaged by Sabanas custom designed and manufactured handles.

From the moment it first opened its doors on New Year’s Eve 1930 The Surf Club in Miami has hosted history. It is an institution whose reputation looms large in the imagination of so many more people than can ever have visited it, let alone been members. Legends and luminaries came to The Surf Club for its reputation as a place where proper impropriety was allowed. It was for people with good taste seeking good times. It combined power and pleasure, ceremony and swagger – its members felt off duty but on show, together. It provided its crowd with somewhere they felt they belonged, somewhere safe: a ballroom and beach, behind closed doors. The Surf Club was a place of imagination and possibility; it turned experiences into memories.

A SOCIAL CLUB WITH SOPHISTICATION IN ITS BONES, MATCHED BY A SINGULAR UNDERSTANDING OF WHO ITS MEMBERS WERE AND WHAT BROUGHT THEM TOGETHER.
IT RESPECTED PRIVACY BUT ALLOWED FREEDOM.

The Surf Club of today comprises a social club, a 77-room Four Seasons Hotel, 120 Residences, 30 Hotel Residences, The Surf Club Restaurant by Thomas Keller, a state of the art Spa, 40 beach Cabanas, and 2 Boutiques, all spread over three buildings on 9 acres of pristine beachfront along the Atlantic Ocean.

Opened in 1930, the Surf Club was situated on more than six acres of prime beachfront property in the Surfside neighborhood. The Mediterranean-revival-style villa, designed by Russell Pancoast, was decorated with zebra-skin sofas and cabanas as far as the eye could see and offered a signature drink — the Mangareva cocktail — as well as poolside fashion shows, debutante balls, and black-tie boxing nights, all for the enjoyment of its gilded guests. And there were plenty of them — from Hollywood royalty such as Elizabeth Taylor and Frank Sinatra to political dignitaries including the Shah of Iran and Winston Churchill. The former prime minister spent so much time at the Surf Club, in fact, that he had two cabanas at his disposal: one for afternoon naps and the other used for painting.

Sabana is proud to be a part of today’s Surf Club. You are cordially invited to the celebration of good taste. The venerable Surf Club, among the last of the grand jazz-age Miami-area private clubs, underwent a transformation that restored the faded luster of its historic Mediterranean Revival building.

Since 1992 Bellini has manufactured Doors and windows with excellence in craftsmanship and superb design.
